Fruity Water Gate

This project is completely apolitical. It IS literally a gate of water. This project goes by the name of “Water Shade” and keeps a shield of H2O around the fruit it is sworn to protect. It’s both a dish and a cover, working with water to keep freshness in and everything larger than Oxygen OUT! Designer Yitu Wang doesn’t want to keep you from your delicious apples though, so there’s a built in detector that sees your hand in approach, and thus is does desist.
Moisture is locked in. Freshness is locked in. Flies are locked out. Dust is locked out. And when you come up and decide you’d love to have a strawberry, as soon as your hand gets near, the streams in that area stop. You’ll remain dry. How very keen!
Designer: Yitu Wang

70+ Stunning Examples of Bokeh Photography

The term bokeh is derived from a Japanese word which means “blur.” In photography, bokeh is the aesthetic quality of the blur, or the effect of the out-of-focus regions of an image. This technique is usually done in order to make the main subject stand out in the photo. Lens aberrations and shape of lens aperture are the major things that help in achieving bokeh.
It’s not easy to say what a “good” bokeh is and what is not. For me, anything that is less distracting and gives the main subject in the photo emphasis and beauty, I think, is a good bokeh photo. Below are the 72 stunning examples of bokeh photos that I have found all over the web.

10 Notable Staircases

Staircases can be so much more than just a means of getting to the next floor. A staircase can be a work of art, a conversation piece, a place to meditate, or a historical marker.

Floating on a Wall

This floating staircase by designer Jordi Vayreda looks dangerous, but the steps are made of steel welded to a thick beam inside the wall. The top of the wall can be used as a handrail for the upper half of the staircase. See more pictures and an explanation here.
