Romantic Furniture

It is February 14, and you know what we are talking about. Forget functionality, forget aesthetics, remember the season!

Studio 65: Bocca Lip Sofa

A tad provacative in design, but definitely looks comfortable!

Designer Victor Aleman have a couple of great concepts for seating for lovers.

1. Mua

Mua was designed with lovers in mind. The organic shape invokes the idea of two people intertwined, embracing each other. Wicker wrapped steel on the outside, red for love in the inside. Mua dangles from a tree suspended for all voyeurs to see and at the perfect angle – looks like a giant heart shaped pendant. Implying love in a design can border the esoteric to the ridiculous but I think the Mua strikes the perfect balance. I just hope those red covers are washable because. . . well, I’m not gonna go there.

2. Loopita

Loopita allows a number of seating configurations that resemble concrete tunnel spaces that so many kids fancy.

Panton Heart Chair

Though more of a single person chair, the Panton Heart Chair, designed in 1959, still amazes people with its shape. Here is how the designer pitches it:

“Most people spend their lives living in dreary, beige conformity, mortally afraid of using colors. The main purpose of my work is to provoke people into using their imagination and make their surroundings more exciting.” -Verner Panton
